Eco-Schools Green Flag Award 2026

We are delighted to announce that Bromsgrove School has been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.

This prestigious recognition celebrates the significant steps we have taken to reduce our environmental impact and build a more sustainable future for our community.

Across the School, sustainability is embedded in our daily practice. Our energy is supplied from renewable sources, supported by on-site solar panels, air source heat pumps and energy-efficient LED lighting. We are committed to sourcing food locally wherever possible, and our catering partner, Holroyd Howe, have started new initiatives such as working with regenerative farmers.

Our Estates team has worked tirelessly to create a thriving biodiversity hotspot on the School site, with habitat-enhancing planting projects continuing wherever opportunities arise. We also strive to reduce waste through initiatives such as composting, including the recycling of all coffee grounds used across the School.

This year's Sustainability Week was our most successful yet. Pupils enthusiastically participated in a wide range of activities, including a Colour Run, apple pressing from our orchard, a BioBlitz and the spectacular Sustainability Sounds Concert. The event also raised funds for the NICE Centre for Movement Disorders, supporting their important work within the local community.

This award recognises the collective efforts of our pupils, teaching staff, support staff and wider community. Together, we are demonstrating that small actions, when combined, can make a meaningful difference.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this achievement. We look forward to building on this success as we continue our journey towards a more sustainable future.
